The 4 stages of the hiring process
1) No job/position exists - yet! 2) Management is aware of need to hire (someone is retiring, resigning, needs to be let go, etc). 3) Inside staff is aware of need. 4) Advertise. Your best bet of getting your resume seen is to get it in the hands of a hiring manager within the 1st 3 stages. By the time it's advertised, your competition level goes way up and your resume may be near the bottom of the pile and never even read.
